The House of Delegates (HOD) is the policy-making body of APhA-ASP and is comprised of one delegate from each school or college of pharmacy, four APhA-ASP National Executive Committee members, and observers from student pharmacist and other health professional organizations. The RPIF Program is an industry-based training program that partners with the leading pharmaceutical and biopharmaceutical companies. Northeastern University offers a variety of two-year post-PharmD research fellowships. Join student pharmacists from across the nation as we recognize the talents and achievements of the Academy. We will also get to hear an inspirational keynote address from pharmacy leader, motivator, and educator Dr. Alex Varkey, MS, FAPhA.

Alex C. Varkey, PharmD, MS, FAPhA, has dedicated his career to advancing the pharmacist's role in patient care. His passion for professional service began as a student pharmacist, when he served as national president of the American Pharmacists Association Academy of Student Pharmacists (APhA–ASP). Varkey's service and dedication to APhA and other pharmacy organizations have continued for almost two decades, including his current service as trustee on the APhA Board of Trustees. Varkey received his Doctor of Pharmacy from the University of Houston and Master of Science in Health-System Pharmacy Administration from The Ohio State University. He completed a two-year health-system pharmacy administration residency at Nationwide Children's Hospital in Columbus, Ohio.

APhA-ASP RISE! to Influence

While building a network requires strategic communication, building a strong social media following requires a lot of discipline, consistency, and creativity. The length of the journey may differ, but they are filled with their own unique challenges and triumphs told in their own personalized way. Influencers can use their platform to engage their communities and patient populations by sharing health-related news and research. They can also develop content that is easy to consume while maintaining integrity in their messaging. Misinformation has become more prevalent over the years and it is important for healthcare professionals to combat misleading information by using their online presence to share the truth.

Help shape the future of the profession through the APhA-ASP House of Delegates (HOD). During the HOD, new APhA-ASP Chapters will receive their charter, recipients of the APhA-ASP PharmFlix Video Contest will be selected, and delegates will debate and vote upon the proposed resolutions. The APhA-ASP National President, Kennedy Erickson, will address the Academy.

APhA-ASP Chapter Delegates must arrive by 2:30pm for check-in and to receive delegate materials.

APhA-ASP Awards Reception

Time: 7:00-8:00 pm PT

Location: Convention Center - North Ballroom Foyer

All APhA members are welcome at this popular, informal reception preceding the APhA-ASP Awards Celebration. No ticket is required to attend the reception. Attendees are asked to purchase a $10 APhA-PAC souvenir cup, which includes 2 beverage tickets. Relax and visit with fellow APhA-ASP members before the Awards Celebration! Tickets can be purchased through the registration process, at the Advocacy Booth in the Experience Zone, and at the event. Proceeds benefit APhA Political Action Committee.

The celebration of student pharmacists continues as we recognize outstanding leaders and announce the recipients of the PharmFlix award, the National Patient Counseling Competition winners, and the Chapter of the Year award.

In the final session of the APhA-ASP House of Delegates, the recipient of the APhA Good Government Student Pharmacist of the Year will be honored. Students will debate and vote on new business items and elect the 2023-2024 APhA-ASP National Executive Committee. APhA2023 student programming will close with the address of the incoming APhA-ASP National President, Victoria Lyle.
