In honor of American Pharmacists Month, CVS Health is recognizing its 30,000 pharmacists. "At CVS Health, we know that delivering high-quality care locally is a unique and important way we can help our patients get and stay healthy," said Larry J. Merlo, president and CEO, CVS Health. "To do this, our pharmacists are playing a broader role in a patient's health care team." In addition to dispensing medications, CVS Health pharmacists provide medication counseling; suggest money-saving options; administer immunizations; deliver disease management education and support; and prescribe certain medications, such as hormonal contraceptives in some states. "Whether through CVS Pharmacy, CVS Caremark, CVS Specialty, Coram, or Omnicare, our pharmacists are providing expert clinical care to patients and helping them achieve their best health," Merlo said. CVS Health will also celebrate on October 16 National Pharmacy Technician Day by recognizing the company's more than 50,000 pharmacy technicians.
