APhA and our pharmacy partners are making an aggressive push for policies that would support the profession, give patients access to life-changing care, and untangle a twisted payment system. These include recognition of pharmacists and their services in Medicare Part B, prohibition of harmful PBM practices such as DIR fees, and more.
We can’t succeed without you on our advocacy team! Your stories and your patients’ stories are key to persuading lawmakers to do the right thing for the health care system and for the well-being of all Americans.
When legislators get to know you, our message comes to life. APhA's Virtual Congressional Conference, to be held October 3 through October 5, 2021, offers you the opportunity to be a part of the political process and the movement for full utilization of pharmacists’ skills, accessibility, and relationships with their communities.
We will arrange for you to (virtually) talk to your federal legislators face to face—something that is significantly more meaningful than e-mails and letters. Although we had hoped to host an in-person congressional “fly-in,” the virtual experience that we will provide will be just as engaging.
Do you worry that you don’t know the issues well enough to make an effective pitch for our policy goals or won’t know what to say? We’ve got you covered. At the APhA Virtual Congressional Conference, you’ll learn the nitty-gritty of pharmacy’s signature legislation and get a primer on how to talk to your elected officials. And if you’ve thought about reaching out to your senators and representatives but didn’t know how, this conference is perfect for you: We’ll give you the platform and tools you need to make that connection. We’ll book the appointments for you, so you don’t have to worry about getting onto busy calendars.
Pushing our bills across the finish line is a team effort. At our Virtual Congressional Conference, not only will you get everything you need to become a star pharmacist–advocate, but you’ll also get a chance to talk to your peers and coordinate strategies.
You’ll even have time to talk to members of the APhA Board of Trustees and ask questions about how the organization is working hard for you, your patients, and your communities.
