Student Leadership Award Q&A: Miranda Moser

Student Leadership Award Q&A: Miranda Moser
Miranda Moser is a final-year PharmD candidate at the West Virginia University School of Pharmacy.

1. As you reflect on your student pharmacist experience thus far, what are some of your favorite memories?

When I reflect over the past couple of years, some of my favorite pharmacy school memories include volunteering at APhA–ASP health fairs throughout the state of West Virginia and dancing with my classmates at the Apothecary Ball (which is similar to a “Pharmacy Prom”).

2. Pharmacy school is demanding, especially when you add on additional activities. How do you manage all of your responsibilities?

Pharmacy school can definitely be overwhelming at times; however, I have a great support system of family and friends that has kept me grounded. Being a leader requires multitasking and staying organized, but I try to schedule time for myself too!

3. What are some of your favorite leadership tools and/or resources?

Whenever I needed advice on how to improve my leadership skills, I turned to my amazing APhA–ASP Chapter Advisors. They’re accomplished leaders who motivate me every day to make my mark in the world of pharmacy.

4. What does being a leader mean, and what does being selected for this award mean, to you?

A leader inspires not only through words, but through actions. Being selected for the Student Leadership Award has meant absolutely everything to me. Once I started pharmacy school, I made it a personal goal to push myself outside of my comfort zone and make an impact. Being involved with APhA–ASP has allowed me to do exactly that.

5. What’s next for you?

Postgraduation, I would like to complete an acute care PGY-1 residency. I have a lot of areas that I am interested in, and I am currently exploring them on my APPE rotations!
