Building a Sustainable, Healthy Pharmacy Workforce and Workplace
In June 2023 APhA, along with ASHP and NABP, convened 50 pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, employers, and state boards of pharmacy executives, for the invitational summit Implementing Solutions Summit: Building a Sustainable, Healthy, Pharmacy Workforce and Workplace Summit. The final report lays out actions to implement solutions to improve workplace conditions by addressing day-to-day challenges, removing obstacles to well-being, and advancing practice models for pharmacists and pharmacy technicians. The report identifies transformative and actionable changes for pharmacy.

APhA Community Pharmacy Workplace Summit
In February 2022, APhA convened 46 pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, pharmacy stakeholders and pharmacy organizations to discuss the challenges faced by community-based pharmacy personnel. The ideas and next steps generated are to serve as the foundation to jointly - employer organizations and pharmacy personnel - engage in frank and meaningful discussion to address issues in their pharmacy practice.

2021 APhA/NASPA National Pharmacy Workplace Survey
APhA and the National Alliance of State Pharmacy Associations (NASPA) 2021 national pharmacy workplace survey was conducted to learn more about pharmacy workplace issues from pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, and student pharmacists across all practice settings. Nearly 7,000 respondents from across the country and practice settings participated in this study.
National Consensus Conference
In 2019 APhA, along with four national pharmacy organizations, held a national consensus conference, to develop strategies that address pharmacists’ well-being and resiliency and design a path forward. The conference hosted multiple stakeholders from diverse practice perspectives.
