American Pharmacists Month Begins Now

WASHINGTON, DC – Today, The American Pharmacists Association officially kicked off American Pharmacists Month (APhM). It all started in October, 1925. For one week, radio stations across the country broadcasted special programming to highlight the profession of pharmacy. In 2004, after celebrating National Pharmacy Week for nearly 8 decades, APhA recognized October as American Pharmacist Month and has ever since. It is a time to celebrate our pharmacists and to give thanks and appreciation for the important role they play every day in our health, our communities, and our lives.

Interim CEO Ilisa Bernstein added the following: “We are thrilled to be able to dedicate time to thanking our pharmacists and pharmacy personnel for all they do to keep us healthy. APhM is a time to celebrate pharmacists and pharmacy personnel for their continued, unwavering commitment to excellence in our profession. We can look back at the last few years and reflect on how we continued serving patients, the challenging circumstances in which we practiced, how pharmacists were stressed and stretched, and how we provided 2 out of every 3 COVID-19 vaccines to Americans. Pharmacists continue to hold the line day after day, and I am so deeply proud of each one of them. To the more than 300,000 practicing pharmacists working today, thank you and Happy American Pharmacists Month!”
