APhA voices concern over hepatitis B recommendation change

Washington, DC (December 4, 2025) The American Pharmacists Association (APhA) is deeply disappointed by today’s vote by the CDC’s Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) to remove the universal recommendation for administering the hepatitis B vaccine birth dose for infants born in the United States. This reversal rolls back a highly effective, evidence-based public health measure that has been in place since 1991.

Washington, DC (December 2, 2025) — The American Pharmacists Association (APhA) today announced a major legislative victory secured for pharmacists and the patients they serve. Working closely with bipartisan members of Congress and collaborating with other health care stakeholders, APhA successfully secured language in recently passed opioid use disorder (OUD) legislation that empowers pharmacists to play a greater role in combating the opioid crisis and expands their ability to provide life-saving care.

APhA announces results of 2025 Board of Trustees elections

Washington, DC (November 21, 2025) — The American Pharmacists Association (APhA) is pleased to announce the results of its 2025 Board of Trustees elections. Brandi Hamilton, PharmD, MS, BCPS, FAPhA, of Beverly Hills, CA, has been elected to serve as APhA President-elect for the 2026–2027 term. She will assume the role of APhA President for the 2027–2028 term. Kristen Snair, CPhT, MSJ, of Glendale, AZ, has been elected Pharmacy Technician Trustee for the 2026–2027 term—becoming only the second pharmacy technician in APhA history to serve on the Board of Trustees.
