The American Pharmacists Association (APhA) announces a significant leadership transition within its autonomous division of the Board of Pharmacy Specialties (BPS). William Ellis, MS, RPh, ICE-CCP—after an impactful 14-year tenure as Executive Director of BPS—is retiring, effective January 10, 2025.

WASHINGTON, DC – The American Pharmacists Association (APhA) and the University of Pittsburgh School of Pharmacy have released two new maps that visualize where community pharmacies offer immunization services in the United States. One interactive map will help patients find vaccinations close to home at easily accessible community pharmacies. A second map allows health care professionals and public health planners to explore geographic areas and vulnerable populations where pharmacists can be partners in expanding immunization efforts. These maps will be updated regularly to reflect pharmacy location changes to ensure accurate information.

Today, the American Pharmacists Association (APhA) and the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) jointly recognize September 20 as Pharmacy Workforce Suicide Awareness Day. Established in 2023 as part of September’s Suicide Prevention Month, this day is dedicated to raising awareness and fostering discussion about a critically important yet often stigmatized topic that disproportionately affects healthcare professionals, including the pharmacy workforce.
