APhA announces 2024 Impacting Immunization Implementation Through Quality Improvement Grant winners

WASHINGTON, DC—The American Pharmacists Association (APhA) has selected four recipients of its 2024 Impacting Immunization Implementation Through Quality Improvement Grant, recognizing pharmacy residents who have developed continuous quality improvement (CQI) projects designed to positively impact immunization processes at pharmacy practice sites across the country.

“The APhA Immunization Implementation Through Quality Improvement Grant program helps us support community pharmacy residents in developing their ability to identify, implement, and evaluate a CQI project with regard to immunization workflow development and delivery,” said Michael D. Hogue, PharmD, FAPhA, FNAP, FFIP, Executive Vice President and Chief Executive Officer of APhA.

Grant proposals were evaluated based on needs assessment, project implementation, evaluation, and project impact. APhA also recognizes Merck for their support of this program.

Grant recipients received an award of $5,000 each and are invited to present their project at the 2025 APhA Annual Meeting & Exposition, March 21–24, 2025, in Nashville, TN.

Grant recipients

  • Julian Azzouzi, PharmD, Touro College of Pharmacy (New York, NY)
  • Maryam Deravi, PharmD, University of Florida (Gainesville, FL)
  • Thai Nguyen, PharmD, University of Pittsburgh, School of Pharmacy (Pittsburgh, PA)
  • Olivia Redmann, PharmD, The University of Mississippi School of Pharmacy (Jackson, MS)

Pharmacists, in collaboration with physicians, public health officials, pharmacy technicians, and other immunization stakeholders, are recognized as important members of the immunization neighborhood, with millions of vaccinations administered by pharmacists, student pharmacists, and pharmacy technicians each year.
