APhA announces 2025 Immunization Champion Award winners

The American Pharmacists Association (APhA) has selected nine (9) recipients for its 2025 Immunization Champion Awards, recognizing individuals and organizations who have made extraordinary contributions toward improved vaccination rates within their communities.

“The APhA Immunization Champion Awards program helps us tell the story of pharmacists' and pharmacy teams’ as valued members of the immunization neighborhood, in addition to their contributions to and impact on the health of communities.,” said Michael D. Hogue, Executive Vice President and Chief Executive Officer of APhA last year at the 16th anniversary of the award presentation,

Nominees were evaluated based on areas of impact, collaboration, originality, and overcoming challenges and creating opportunities for pharmacists. APhA also recognizes Pfizer, Merck, GSK, Moderna and VaxServe, a Sanofi Company, for their support of this program.

Awards will be presented on Sunday March 23, 2025, 4:45 pm to 6:00 pm ET in Nashville, Tennessee, during the 2025 APhA Annual Meeting & Exposition.

Honorable Mention: Ijeoma Uwakwe, PharmD (Wilson, NC)

APhA established these special awards in 2008, and made the first presentations in 2009, to recognize the value and extraordinary contributions pharmacists provide to improving the vaccination rates in their communities. Read more about this year’s award winners here.  

Pharmacists, in collaboration with physicians, public health officials, pharmacy technicians, and other immunization stakeholders, are recognized as important members of the immunization neighborhood, with millions of vaccinations administered by pharmacists, student pharmacists, and pharmacy technicians each year.

APhA applauds the more than 500,000 pharmacists, student pharmacists, and pharmacy technicians trained to administer vaccines who are making a difference in their communities.
